A refreshing and creamy mango sago dessert, perfect for a sweet treat or a cool summer dessert.
Instructions
- 1
Prepare 40g of sago. Do not soak it in water as it will turn mushy.
- 2
Boil a sufficient amount of water in a pot. Once boiling, add the sago and cook on high heat for 20 minutes. When there's only a small white center left, turn off the heat and let it sit covered for 15 minutes. Ensure to add enough water initially to avoid temperature drop.
- 3
Stir the sago every 5 minutes while cooking to prevent sticking. Keep the pot covered to retain heat, leaving a small gap to prevent overflow.
- 4
While the sago is cooking, peel the mangoes and cut the flesh into 1 cm cubes.
- 5
Place 2/3 of the smaller mango cubes into a stainless steel juice cup, add about half a box of pure milk, and blend into a smooth mango puree.
- 6
Mix the remaining half box of milk into the mango puree to create a smooth mango drink. For a chilled version, blend some ice into the mixture.
- 7
Rinse the cooked sago under cold water and drain using a sieve. Tip: If sago turns white after refrigeration, reheat for 5 minutes to restore its translucency.
- 8
Add the sago to the mango drink and stir well.
- 9
Serve the mango sago dessert in bowls, topped with some mango cubes.
- 10
Enjoy the silky and smooth dessert.
- 11
For a portable chilled version, store the dessert in a stainless steel juice cup which can keep it cold for up to 4 hours.
